This web app dashboard is currently what i am working for on my portfolio module. This web dashbaord we created me and my teammate Shin is to help peoples who want to organize their busy schedule like their events, assignment deadline all of this and also  a better user interface that not just displaying calendar but other stuffs too all in one. For now we are just planning and trying to make the apps have even better functions like creating bots on it and much more.

1/1/2018 ~First week

Start to create the web interface layout and figuring out how to use the google calendar api for html. So once our dash board is done we can start to research more on how to implement into our dash board because some api is using different language.

1/12/2018 ~Second week

Website dash board already done and importing google calendar through api also already done. Next objective is to figure out how to add event and alerting user through sending notifications through phone when the next activity/event is up.

1/15/2018 ~Third week

Today we able to implement on google calendar at today schedule section now our next objective is to how to implement gps api and firebase notification. For gps api is to track where the user is and able to estimate his place to school for example. Firebase notification is for sending notification to the user's phone whenever the first event trigger.

1/19/2018

We are touching up the web make it look more presentable and also researching other api like weather, task, gps and also notification on events. I researching weather api is because since we are trying out api might as well try something new like make our dash board able to track calendar and weather at the same time in the same place too. I just got implement time and date too in the dash board so is easy and look quite awesome.

1/22/2018 ~Fourth week

Trying to fix some error on our dash board that didn't display correctly and preparing the presentation slide for demo day. Like the task api it didn't display  on the dash board cause there are two almost same api code which is google calender api but we able to add tasks on python and i still trying to figure it out how to separate them. So we can make both of them work in the dash board.

We give up on firebase and gps api for now is because we still trying to fix other api that still not working yet which is task and notification so one step at a time before i go try to research and add other api.

1/30/2018 ~Final week

My presentation slide and poster are done just touching it up. The notification are done and working correctly now left the task api which we are able to make it work by displaying and adding task too. But we still have some problem on implementing it into our dash board now i trying to fix it too before the deadline of submission. 

Service Learning

First Visit at St.Hilda

The first time when we are going to the elderly care I was quite excited about it because is an outdoor activity and I very seldom go to elderly care except school activities. Before I go to the elderly care I except it would be fun chatting with the elderly, playing games with them and know more about them. During the first visit I am curious which elderly is assigned to me. The elderly all look quite friendly and it have two elderly care center I am under another team so I am separated from my class and with two of my classmate. Once I saw the elderly I am assigned too he was quite friendly at first so we greeted each other and have a little chat. After a while I think he feel that I am quite bored probably because maybe I am not entertaining enough and also I am an introvert so is quite hard for me to keep chatting which someone I first meet. Then at first I thought when is time for them to play games I might able to communicate with him through playing board games but I was wrong because he don’t play any games at all. So it was really hard for me to communicate and he just sit there reading newspaper so I just accompany him till when he going home or my class end. This also applied to the second time I visit him too same routine which is kind of sad.  So after all I feel is kind of not what I really expecting in the first place but is a good learning journey for me.

Second Visit

Today is the last day of going to the St.Hilda elderly care. It was fun and I feel a bit sad because I probably wont go there anymore to see Mr Ho the elderly that I am taking care of. Today when I passed him the poster I made he was happy and he like it a lot, the way I see him smile I feel that it was really worth it to spent overnight making that poster and it was so satisfying because I very seldom make something for people by my own hands and I don’t make poster before. So throughout this whole journey I think this is the best part that I ever had.

Pollinate

During that time, I went to the place call pollinate it was quite fun and interesting is about starting your own business from the start. At first they doing some presentations on how they become a boss of their own and the phone apps they created on smartphone also the risk of starting of their own business. It make me quite interested like what why do they have this idea of starting business of their own. It make me think about my future like what I am going to do and actually it keep me inspired too. Actually, last time I did think about like starting my own business but quite a few things I am worried is I know starting a business of your own is never easy and the risk of doing it is quite huge like might get you bankrupt or something. That’s why I never think of this idea anymore but after the end of this event actually It keep me interested again i might really start my own business out there when I graduate.

World Skills

Another Industry talk I went is at Suntec City over there is quite a lot of booths. So that a booth call SkillFuture I see is quite interesting and is about what you want to do for your future. Also, I went is because to be honestly I still don’t really know what work I want to do in the future. So they talk to me about opportunities and what I passionate about also talk about my interests and ask me to explore various career options. It was definitely useful for me because after I graduate I definitely going to work too not going to study anymore for that time unless my future job require me to upgrade or something. So, after the talk it really make me thinking about my future like what work I going to do in the future after I graduate from poly, does the work going related to what I studying now or maybe go sign on police and making use of what I have learned in school like at police IT department.

Since 2003, this company have grown into a strong strategic business partner with various Singapore bodies, large organisations, MNC, local business and educational institutions.

I think that this company is suitable for me because it has cloud computing service too that I had learned in school like DCA and DMCD modules. About the job roles would be cloud engineer, is because I am interested in doing coding and cloud database which I also had learned more in school and also doing some related projects too. So I think this job role should be quite suitable for me. About my personality profile I think it somehow meet the requirements. So I think I should be able to keep up.

GOVTECH

GovTech is a giant government organisation to make lives of citizens better by providing intuitive and efficient government application. From last year GovTech reports to a new Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG), under the auspices of the Prime Minister's Office. This company is all about Information Technology stuff that I had learn in school during ITE and Ngee Ann Poly which is right now I studying at. So I feel GovTech is quite suitable for me as in they are doing all this programming, network, mobile and more which I had learned in IT course. About job role I think Application developer is suitable for me, because in school I had do some projects like programming, database and mobile application too. I am passionate in completing the tasks that given to me. So about my personality profile I think it does meet the requirements somehow and should be able to keep it up.
